I started playing harmonica at the age of 14. Growing up in Brownsville,Texas, I was exposed to some of my musical heroes including George “Harmonica” Smith, Little Walter, Charlie Musselwhite, Paul Butterfield and Lee Oskar. By Eighteen, I began my professional career playing around the state of Texas performing with rooted South Texas players that were very influential to my musical journey.
Continuing my journey, I moved to Nashville in 1992 where I was privileged to perform and record with such country artists as Toby Keith, Ronnie Milsap, Doug Stone, Pam Tillis, and Lee Roy Parnell gaining Gold and Platinum Status on the national country charts as well as, blues artists B.B King, Carl Weathersby, Burton Gaar, Mark Selby, Larry McRae, Chubby Carrier, and Anthony Gomes. This led to the formation of the All-Pro Blues Jam, where all the best blues artists and musicians came to share their music and experiences – little did they know, these talented players would help inspire my vision for my CD titled ” Straight From The Heart”. From Blues, jazz, and soul to Latin, my dream has come to life.
Moving forward I have had the pleasure of playing with Lee Oskar (War), Magic Dick (J Geils Band), The Rev Jimmie Bratcher, Del Castillo, Los Lonely Boys, The Brew and most recently Adrian Belew (King Crimson, David Bowie). I am finishing up a new recording project “Harp Gumbo” recorded in Nashville, Kansas City, and Austin to be released in the near future!!
